Currently, one of our groundbreaking projects includes testing gH2 storage in salt caverns. We are keen to replicate the success of this project worldwide, demonstrating its scalability across different geographies.

As one of our projects, ENEOS plans to significantly increase its production of green hydrogen in Queensland using its patented electrolysis technology powered by a dedicated onsite solar system. The hydrogen will be produced as methylcyclohexane (MCH) for easier storage and transportation, to be refined back to hydrogen in Japan. This project is the first supported by the Japanese Government’s 3 trillion-yen Green Innovation Fund, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Operating for over 40 years, and with owned assets at 49 national sites, Pacific Energy currently has 931MW under contract, making us a market leader by scale in the provision of remote, off-grid energy in Australia. Over time, we have built 103 power stations, totalling over 1.4GW in delivered energy infrastructure.
We specialise in designing, building, owning and operating power generating assets for mining companies, businesses, townships and state-owned utilities across Australia, as a trusted partner from concept right through project life.
With unrivalled capability across all energy technologies, Pacific Energy has demonstrated experience integrating solar, wind, green hydrogen and battery energy storage into new and existing remote power systems, with an end goal to maximise efficiencies and minimise emissions.
What are your company’s biggest achievements and what projects are you currently working on?
At Pacific Energy, we’re proud to say we have developed and deployed the most hydrogen projects in Australia, including several Australian firsts. Some of these include:
Denham Hydrogen Plant: An Australian first, we were engaged to design, construct and commission a solar-powered green hydrogen plant, which incorporates world-leading hydrogen equipment, to test the technical and commercial viability of renewable hydrogen as a baseload power source in a remote microgrid.
CSIRO Hydrogen Refueller: We designed, supplied, installed and commissioned Australia’s first fast H2 refueller at CSIRO’s Clayton Campus in Melbourne, which will provide hydrogen refuelling to the fuel cell cars of CSIRO and its partners. This project is nominated for the Engineers Australia Excellence Awards – Projects (2024)
Canberra Hydrogen Refuelling Facility: We’ve acquired Australia’s first public hydrogen refuelling station, located in Fyshwick, south of Canberra. Originally designed and constructed by our division Pacific Energy Connected (previously known as ENGV), the investment underpins strategy to develop the mobility ecosystem through the provision of reliable, safe and innovative hydrogen refuelling stations.
We’re currently have several projects underway, including the Hyundai SimpleFuel Fast hydrogen refuelling station in Sydney and the Air Liquide Woodside Hydrogen Refueller in Perth.

What are your company’s biggest achievements and what projects are you currently working on?
Technip Energies has a strong 65-year history executing some of the world’s largest and most complex engineering and construction projects. Our extensive portfolio encompasses cutting-edge technologies, innovative products, comprehensive projects, and a wide array of services designed to assist our clients in decarbonizing their operations and achieving their net-zero goals. In the low-carbon hydrogen market, we are recognized as a global leader, having successfully delivered more than 50+ projects with CO2 capture worldwide, including:
- LG Chem, first Blue H₂ by T.EN™ plant to supply Daesan complex in South Korea.
- Tallgrass Energy, technology assessment ATR and SMR enabling >90% CO2 capture – Blue H2.
- Sinopec refining and acetic acid facility, China, multiproduct HyCO plant with 100% precombustion CO2 capture.
- HPCL Visakh, India, two hydrogen trains with a combined capacity of 320,000 Nm3/h, comprising the largest hydrogen generation plant in India. The project includes power generation from the hydrogen plant as well as our proprietary recuperative reforming technology TPR (R) that reduces CO₂ footprint per unit of hydrogen.
- Suncor Refinery, 75 MW power, largest single-train SMR hydrogen plant.
We are also executing a significant contract for a hydrogen production unit at BP’s Kwinana Biorefinery in Western Australia and an EPCC contract for the YURI Green Hydrogen Project in Australia.

What are you most looking forward to at the Asia Pacific 2024 Summit & Exhibition?
The previous year’s summit and exhibition brought invaluable networking, collaboration and knowledge-sharing opportunities among global energy leaders and government representatives, moving the region’s hydrogen businesses into alignment with the 2030 and 2050 climate goals. Technip Energies looks forward to continuing this momentum. We also look forward to Tim Murray, Head of Commercial at Technip Energies Australia and New Zealand, as a panel speaker in the event’s Session 6: Advancing Low-Carbon Hydrogen Production & Carbon Capture Solutions. He and fellow panelists will discuss the latest technological advancements, policies, regulations and incentives promoting the critical role of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) in boosting hydrogen demand and infrastructure to meet climate targets and confront barriers to its widespread adoption.
