Since February 2023, Juergen Friedrich is Ministerial Envoy for International Hydrogen Projects with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
In 2009, he joined Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) as CEO and Chairman. GTAI is the economic development agency of the Federal Republic of Germany. With two locations in Germany, 60 offices abroad, more than 400 employees and an annual budget in excess of € 50 Mio, GTAI supports German companies setting up in foreign markets, promotes Germany as a business location and assists foreign companies setting up in Germany.
From August 2007 to May 2009, he directed the North Africa and Middle East department at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in Berlin.
In the years from 2000 to 2007, he served as the German Delegate of Industry and Commerce in the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar, based in Dubai.
Juergen Friedrich was posted to Washington D.C. in 1997 as Political Economic Envoy to the office of the German Business Delegate, representing the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and the Federation of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) in the USA.
From 1988 to 1997, he was an energy policy official in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in Berlin.
Dr Juergen Friedrich holds a Doctor of Engineering from Technical University Clausthal.
